How to Install a WordPress Theme [Tutorial]

There are two main ways you can install a theme to WordPress.
Install a Free WordPress Theme:
The first method is simply browsing WordPress themes within the theme library inside your WordPress dashboard.
To do so, you would need to find the “Appearance” tab along the left hand side of your WordPress dashboard.
Once hovering it, you’ll see a drop down menu and the word “Themes” should appear.
Click on “Themes” and it will load the search page where you can begin browsing different WordPress themes that are free.
Upload a WordPress Theme from a 3rd Party Website:
You can also buy or download a theme from another third party website like Themeforest and upload it into your WordPress dashboard.
Themeforest is a great marketplace to shop for hundreds of different WordPress themes and it’s where I found the Avada Theme which is what I currently use to run my different websites.
To upload your own theme, head under the Appearance tab again inside your WordPress dashboard. Click “Themes” and then look for the “Add New” button near the top of that page when it loads.
Next find the “Upload Theme” button at the top of the following page that loads.
Click on the file import button on the next page and it should open up your computer file browser so you can search for the downloaded zip file of whatever theme you want to import.
If you use Themeforest to purchase your theme, you’ll go into your account settings and find the Downloads tab. Then download the “Installable WordPress File Only” option and it will download a zipfile to your computer.
Then you can seek out this zipfile when following the steps from above.
